Well, I just happen to know the answer to that.
May I first clarify that I do not know this because I received a citation. Because I did not. Receive a citation. For an expired inspection sticker. (That I was planning on getting updated I just had to figure out why my “check engine soon” light was on because I knew it wouldn’t pass anyway and I had taken it to different people trying to fix it but they couldn’t so that’s why I haven’t gotten my sticker updated) Just so you don’t have to loose any sleep at night worrying about how I got a citation. ‘Cause I so did not.
Anyway, the difference between a citation and a ticket: Gather ’round class, we’re about to learn something, so put on your thinking caps! Everybody comfortable? I just vacuumed the carpet so you don’t have to worry about that. Strawberries anyone?
Okay. First, how about I just read the direct definition of a citation and a ticket. Ticket – “A summons issued to an offender (especially to someone who violates a traffic regulation).” Citation – “A thoroughbred that won the triple crown in 1948.”
So, as you can clearly see, there is a big difference between a citation and a ticket. A citation is a horse and a ticket is something that people get when they break the law. I got a citation. So you see? No worries.
(Although I am kind of curious about those cops outside my door.)

How odd, as I have the same problem. Received the “citation” last week, and have one more week before a warrant is sent out for my arrest. Be careful, as I’m sure this may lead to the re-opening of your very long criminal history.

I would rather not talk about my criminal history on the interet.
